How to get started in wheelchair racing

The first step is to talk to some other athletes and perhaps try their chair. Each chair is custom built for each person specifically like it shows in the first question above, so this is not always easy. It can be difficult to get started unless you have a team or coach to help you. If you call Top End for advice we would ask you the following questions: your disability, classification, ability to transfer, current seat width of your everyday wheelchair and if you have ever tried the sport to see if we can match you up with a program or athlete near you. Demo chairs are not readily available but by asking a few key questions we can "coach" you through the measurement form based on our extensive experience in measuring and building racing chairs for athletes from the elite to the beginner.
